Tell me about yourself. What inspired you to write?
As a child, I always had my head in a book. Writing is the only thing I have ever wanted to do, aside from having a family. After my children were born and in school, I decided to pursue this life long dream and I’ve just never wanted to do anything else.
Describe your desk / writing space.
I have a small desk in my bedroom, but I take my laptop everywhere. So basically, I write anywhere I have space in my little cozy house.
Do you have a writing routine or do you write when inspired?
I write every day whether that is routine or inspired I suppose is up for debate. A little bit of both. Writing is my career. It is my job and calling. I have great respect for the written word, but as with any job or craft it requires constant tending. Writing every single day is a necessity for me.
What was the hardest scene for you to write? Which scene was your favorite to write?
Every new book I write is my favorite at that moment. I think dialogue scenes can be difficult as well as fight scenes, but as long as they don’t feel forced I am good. Picking a favorite is like picking a favorite kid! LOL. I do like this scene in Polar Outbreak where my heroine tells the hero at a rather intimate time that if he breaks her favorite jeans in his haste to take them off, that would be a deal breaker. You know how it is with your favorite jeans…just sayin’. 😉
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on my story Water Witch that is featured in Midnight Magic. This limited time anthology is a list aiming set and what that means is several indie authors and I are putting out a one of a kind, special edition anthology of like genre BRAND NEW tales on multiple platforms for only #99cents with the goal of hitting a bestselling list.
Being an indie author is tough, and we are only small fish in a very big sea. The more we are seen and heard, the better it is for us all. Then we can hopefully reach more readers and continue to write the books our audience wants.
What authors or books have influenced your writing?
I am an avid reader. I love so many different genres and subgenres from thriller and suspense to horror, contemporary romance to historical and cowboy, fantasy and paranormal, young adult, dystopian, scifi. I read everything. My favorites range from classics to indies, folks like Tolkein, Shakespeare, George RR Martin, JR Rain, Stephen King, JK Rowling, JR Ward, Eve Langlais, Celia Kyle, P. Mattern and so many more.
Coffee or tea? Wine or beer?
Both. Coffee in the morning, iced tea in the afternoon, beer with a burger or pizza, wine with seafood or pasta.
What inspired your book/series?
I have over 100 books in publication today. Most of my series are spin offs of each other, where a minor character introduced in one series got stuck in my brain until I realized he or she needed their own series, and so on and so forth- lol. Mainly, I like to write fast-paced episodic paranormal stories, mostly romance, that people who are busy and don’t have a lot of time can read quickly and still feel satisfied that they got a complete tale in a few sittings.
Who is your favorite character from your book and would you get along?
I always come back to my very first book and heroine, Maria Graziana Kelly aka Grazi Kelly. She is the first character I ever wrote and published and the namesake for my Grazi Kelly Universe. Without her, there are no books. She made the rules and the setting possible. I think we get along famously.
If you could live anywhere, in this world or fantasy, where would you live?
Hard choice, I very much like my life and I suppose if I thought about it I already live in a fantasy world most of the time, don’t I?
How do you come up with the title to your books?
My process may be a little backwards cause I also do about 95% of my cover art. I find creating covers inspires me to write the story, and of course, that means I need a title first as well. A lot of the time a story idea has been floating around my head for months or even years before I ever create the cover and title, then pen the words. The title just has to feel right to me.
What is your favorite meal?
Ooooh, hard one. I’m a bit of a foodie. I love to cook and to eat, it is part of why I love writing virile shifters with large appetites for life. Currently, I am on a bit of a Northern Chinese kick. There is this little hand pulled noodle place that I just adore near our home.
Describe yourself in three words.
Honest, hardworking, and motivated.
